「Garmin.com」および「Garmin Connect」のダウンはランサムウェアによるものだった模様

昨日書いた「Garmin」のサービスがダウンしている問題。オフィシャルサイトには「停電によりサービスが落ちているほか、電話も繋がらなくなっています。出来るだけ早く復旧出来るよう頑張っています。申し訳ありません。」としか書いていませんが、その停電はランサムウェアによるものだったようです。以下、意訳。

Garmin fitness devices have been left disconnected for nearly a day after the company suffered a major outage, possibly caused by a ransomware attack. The outage first reported by Garmin over 20 hours ago, as of this writing, affects Garmin wearables and apps, as well as Garmin call centers.

停電の影響でGarminのフィットネスデバイスがサーバに接続出来なくなって1日が経ちますが、どうやらこの停電はランサムウェアの攻撃によるものだったようです。停電は20時間以上前に発表され、Garminはバイスやアプリ、コールセンターなどが機能しなくなっているとしていました。

Smartwatch and wearables maker Garmin has shut down several of its services on July 23 to deal with a ransomware attack that has encrypted its internal network and some production systems, ZDNet has learned.

However, since the incident took root at around 03:00am UTC, several Garmin employees took to social media to share details about the attack, all calling it a ransomware attack.

Some Garmin employees speaking online attributed the incident to a new strain of ransomware that appeared earlier this year, called WastedLocker. ZDNet has not been able to verify these claims during our interviews with Garmin employees, and while we confirmed that this is a ransomware attack, we could not 100% verify claims that this was caused by WastedLocker.

However, the incident appears to be much larger and more devastating than Garmin indicated via its initial statement.

スマートウォッチやデバイスのメーカーであるGarminが7/23、同社のいくつかのサービスを停止しました。ランサムウェアの攻撃によって同社のネットワークやシステムが暗号化されている模様です。

何人かのGarminスタッフが攻撃の詳細について語ったところによると、どうやらランサムウェアによるものらしいとのことです。

このスタッフによると今年の初めに出現したWastedLockerと呼ばれる新しいランサムウェアによるものではないかとのことです。ZDNetとしてはランサムウェアによる攻撃であることは確認したものの、WastedLockerによるものであるとは確認出来ていません。

しかしこの問題は、Gaminの発表よりもかなり大きな影響をもたらしているようです。

公式には確認出来ていないものの、スタッフへの聞き取りによってどうやらランサムウェアによるものらしいという報道ですね。ただの停電じゃなかったのか……これはちょっと時間（とお金）が掛かるかもなあ。早期に解決されることを祈りつつ、万一の事態に備えてなんとかデータを保持出来る方法を考えた方がいいかも知れませんね。
